Wastewater overflows in area of Wellington Street, Perth

People should avoid contact with any pooled water in the area of Wellington Street, Perth, as it may be sewage following a major blockage on a sewer main along Wellington Street.

As a priority, Water Corporation crews are working to clear the large blockage of fat, grease and rags, which has caused several wastewater overflows at properties along Wellington Street.

The Bryan Adams concert at RAC Arena this evening (9 February 2025) was cancelled due to the risk of sewage backing up within the venue toilets, posing a potential public health risk. Frontier Touring has advised this morning that tickets will be refunded in full. Visit Frontier Touring for more information.

Other safety precautions include:

  • Do not approach any access chamber (manhole) that appears to be discharging water, or anywhere where there is flowing water on the ground.
  • Manholes covers could have dislodged due to the water pressure and may be open creating a safety hazard.
  • Avoid any pooling or flowing water as it may be sewage.
  • It you come into contact with wet areas, please clean and dry your footwear with warm soapy water.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any illness.

People are asked to report any access chambers (manholes) discharging water or dislodged access chamber covers (along with location) to Water Corporation on 13 13 75 (24/7).

Water Corporation apologises for the inconvenience this has caused and will provide further updates as required.
