Water Corporation supports Kimberley through new COVID-19 Community Relief Fund

The Water Corporation has launched a one-off round of grants to support not-for-profit organisations and community groups across the Kimberley that have been financially impacted by COVID-19.

Grants of up to $10,000 are available through the COVID-19 Community Relief Fund, which is an extension of the Kimberley Community Grants Scheme, delivered by the Water Corporation and the Lions Club of Broome.

Applications for the COVID-19 Community Relief Fund close at 4pm (AWST) on Friday June 5, 2020.

Funding for grants is generated by the sale of Rhodes Grass hay, which is produced by the Water Corporation as an environmentally friendly way of disposing of Broome's recycled wastewater.

Since 2016, the Kimberley Community Grants Scheme has provided $185,807 back to the community, funding 30 projects across the Kimberley.

"We know it's a challenging time, so in response the Water Corporation is opening a one-off round of funding to support not-for-profit organisations helping those in need. 

"The COVID-19 Community Relief Fund will support eligible groups and organisations across the Kimberley experiencing financial hardship as a result of the pandemic, as well as those who wish to expand their services to further support the community.

"These grants will support not-for-profit groups and organisations to continue to make a positive difference on the ground in the Kimberley community."
