*UPDATE 4 BELOW - AS AT 15/12/2019 @ 9am*

Water Corporation will continue to assist DFES with its response to the Yanchep bushfire.

Property owners are reminded not to rely in scheme water in the event of a bushfire – more information is available at https://www.watercorporation.com.au/water-supply/bushfires-and-water-supply

We are prepared for bushfire season. However, we cannot guarantee that water pressure or water supply will be maintained in the event of a bushfire. Loss of electricity may cause pumps that transfer water to our storage tanks to fail. We may not be able to access water supply or respond to system failures in areas that are deemed by DFES or Western Power to be unsafe for our staff to enter.

For water supply enquiries please contact Water Corporation on 13 13 75.

Two Rocks

There are currently no water supply issues affecting Two Rocks properties connected to our scheme.

Two Rocks is supplied with water from two separate bore fields that feed water into tanks, which then gravity feed water into the town’s water mains.  The bushfire burned through our bore fields and has affected the mains power supply.

We have deployed generators to the bore fields and they are now able to feed water to the tanks.  We are also supplementing the scheme with water from tankers.

* UPDATE 1 BELOW - WAS AS AT 13/12/2019 12PM *

Yanchep/Two Rocks bushfire

Two Rocks – there are currently no known water supply issues affecting Two Rocks properties connected to our scheme.

Two Rocks is supplied with water from two separate bore fields that feed water into two tanks.  The bushfire burned through our bore fields around midnight last night.  At the same time, we lost mains power to our bore fields which has meant they are no longer able to supply water to fill the tanks.

Based on normal daily use we are estimating the tanks have enough storage to be able to continue to supply water until around 3pm on Saturday.

As soon as it is safe to do so today our crews will be deployed to the bore fields to assess any damage and determine what will be necessary to get them up and running again.  If necessary and safe to do so, we will deploy generators and supplement the scheme with tankers to help maintain the water supply.

Yanchep - there are currently no known water supply issues in Yanchep.  Yanchep is connected to the Integrated Water Supply Scheme and is supplemented by local bores.

Heatwave

We have deferred all planned water outages in the Perth metropolitan area affected by the WA Health Department’s heatwave warning between Thursday and Monday morning this week.  The postponements will ensure our customers are not affected through loss of water during the hot weather conditions.

Our response to unplanned work such as minor leaks and breaks may in some cases take longer than usual.  If the leak is very small we may leave the water running as this is a better option than turning off the water supply while we undertake a repair.  Our crews will make this decision on a case-by-case basis as we balance the need to repair leaks quickly to save water with the effect a water outage has on customers during a heatwave.
