Important upgrades to secure Dalwallinus water supply

• $8.8 million project to upgrade water supply for the Dalwallinu community
• Local sub-contractors and about 24 WA workers employed as part of the upgrade
• McGowan Government is committed to putting WA jobs first.

Dalwallinu workers will begin work this month to update the town’s water infrastructure by building a new, larger water tank to improve the town’s water supply.

Around 24 Western Australian workers will be involved in the $8.8 million project, including 11 local sub-contractors.

The project will increase Water Corporation’s capacity to store water and provide a more consistent water pressure to around 350 properties in the town.

Works will include the construction of a new concrete water storage tank, two new booster pump stations and 2.2 kilometres of underground pipework connecting the new tank to the scheme.

The new tank and a booster pump will be constructed on Water Corporation land in Dalwallinu, opposite Strickland Drive, near Mclevie Way.

The new underground pipeline will be laid along Leahy Street, Strickland Drive, Great Northern Highway and Watheroo Road.

The second booster pump station will be constructed at the Water Corporation’s existing Pithara site, approximately 20 km from Dalwallinu.

The overall project is expected to be completed by the end of November 2018. The Dalwallinu community will be kept up to date as the project progresses.
