Water Corporation, GeoCatch and the Dunsborough Lakes Golf Club made the most of a sunny Sunday morning and partnered with the community for a day of planting in an area off Clubhouse Drive in Dunsborough, last weekend.

Water Corporation South West Regional Manager John Janssen, said the tree planting day was an exciting opportunity for some of our staff and the community to get their hands dirty and turn a space that was previously used as a temporary site compound into a natural greenspace for the community to enjoy.

“We saw this space as an opportunity to lead by example in revegetating with native coastal species instead of replanting the grass that was there before the project. Not only will this reduce our water use, it will create a natural bushland area on the site for local fauna,” Mr Janssen said.

“GeoCatch oversaw the transformation of the site, with seedlings planted sourced from the Geographe Landcare Community Nursery.”

Dunsborough Lakes Golf Club Manager, Paul Devaney said the revegetation would help to improve the amenity of the area and will positively impact our local coastal environment.

“It was great to see so many people take part on the day,” Mr Devaney said.

GeoCatch Project Officer, Lisa Massey said the community planting day was a great success, with over 25 enthusiastic residents attending.

“Thank you to everyone who joined us on the day to plant over 850 native seedlings which over time will re-establish native vegetation as habitat for local fauna and create a natural space for local residents to enjoy,” Lisa Massey said.
