We're looking for local ideas to give back to the Alkimos community
Are you an Alkimos resident with ideas on how to improve your community?
If so, the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant project team want to hear from you!
As part of this project, we're looking to support three legacy initiatives that will benefit Alkimos for years to come.
Whether you’re passionate about the environment or a local organisation, we want your vote on the best ideas we can help bring to life.
What is a legacy initiative?
A legacy initiative is a long-term project or program designed to create lasting positive impacts for a community.
Initiatives can include:
- the establishment or preservation of cultural and historical projects
- restoring natural habitats
- ideas for social development, education, and/or infrastructure improvements
- funding or resources to local organisations.
How to enter or vote for an idea
If you have an idea, please email community.engagement@watercorporation.com.au with the following information:
- Idea (summary of the proposed legacy initiative).
- Benefit to the community.
- Location of idea (if applicable).
We'll be accepting votes and submissions until 5pm, Friday 18 July 2025.
Please note: To ensure the safety and security of our work on the Alkimos Seawater Desalination Plant, we’re unable to accept ideas that require access to Water Corporation operational land (which includes anything within the boundary of the Alkimos Water Precinct).
You can see which areas are off-limits on this map.
A number of ideas have already been proposed to Water Corporation and are outlined below.
If you support any of the ideas below, let us know by emailing community.engagement@watercorporation.com.au.
