How our refill stations have made a difference this year
From Kalgoorlie to Dunsborough, our portable water refill stations have had quite the journey around Western Australia this year.
Our Water for Community Events program began in 2016 due to growing awareness of the environmental impact of single use plastic bottled water and has been a success ever since.
The refill stations are available across WA for events run by not-for-profit and community groups to help ensure attendees have access to drinking water while reducing plastic waste.
From July 2023 to May 2024, we attended 26 events in the Perth metro region, supplying more than 8700 litres of water and saving 6324 plastic bottles from landfill.
A standout event was the Mother’s Day Classic, an annual charity run/walk event held in Perth to support breast and ovarian cancer research.
We provided two refill stations and supplied around 2000 event goers with 1230 litres of water - that’s equivalent to 2050 600ml plastic bottles!
Throughout the year, we also made our way to 27 events in the regions, including the Eaton Foreshore Festival, Balingup Small Farm Field Day, the Bridgetown Show and the Toodyay Ag Show to name a few.
Our refill stations supplied 3750 litres of water across these events, saving 2250 plastic bottles.
