Students are encouraged to consider their role in protecting our water for tomorrow. 

They will discover practical ways to use water sustainably and understand how everyday choices make a difference. 

What's covered at each year level?

Pre-primary to Year 1

Duration: 45-60 minutes | Suitable for: 20-30 students per session (one class)

  • The importance of water for people, plants and animals
  • Seasonal changes that affect water availability
  • Where water is used in the household
  • Water wasting and water-saving behaviours in the home

Years 2 - 4 

Duration: 50-60 minutes | Suitable for: 20-65 students per session

  • The importance of sustainable water use 
  • How water is used in homes and gardens 
  • Water wasting behaviours in homes and gardens 
  • Simple behaviour changes that can reduce water use 

Years 5 - 6

Duration: 50-60 minutes | Suitable for: 20-65 students per session

  • Water as a natural resource and the range of sources our water comes from
  • Where water is used in the home, school and in the community 
  • Water wasting behaviours at home, school and in community
  • Simple behaviour changes that can reduce water use 

Year 7 

Duration: 50-60 minutes | Suitable for: 30-90 students per session

  • Perth's water sources  
  • The impact climate change is having on Perth's water supply
  • Water conservation behaviours  
Information for teachers

All incursions require a minimum of 2 sessions per booking and a minimum of 60 students in total. A supervising teacher must remain with the class for the duration of the incursion.
