Secondary school online resources
We have a range of ready-to-use class lessons developed by experts from the Water Matters School Education team that support the Western Australian Curriculum, including the sustainability cross curricular priority.
You have the option of downloading lesson plans or using online videos with in-class exercises to supplement the video lessons. Our video lessons should be used in sequence to support continuity learning, the videos feature subject matter experts from the Waterwise School Education team.
All our resources help students build a deeper understanding of water sustainability across multiple learning areas.
Year 7 - Our city: English
Students will investigate world class water innovations to understand how they work and how they are being applied, both locally and internationally.
Year 7 - Our city: HASS
Students will explore world‑class water innovations and learn how they work. They will gain a local perspective by learning about the different experiences of accessing clean drinking water in WA.
Year 7 - Space: HASS
Earth has many precious resources, some renewable and many not. Students will research these and then identify factors for liveability, linking it to the design of their own Planet B.
Year 7 - Space: Science
Students will imagine life on Mars and identify the resources needed for a sustainable settlement. They will then design a water‑resourced space station and a wastewater recovery system to create a reliable drinking water supply.
Year 7 - Different perspectives: Science
Students will begin to understand the impact clean water accessibility has on communities and investigate ways to improve this access, including designing their own filter to provide clean water.
