Palmyra wastewater main burst

We are responding to a sewer main burst on Aurelian Street, Palmyra, which resulted in a localised wastewater overflow.
This may cause noise, odour and light impacts plus additional vehicle movements.
Our crews are on site completing emergency repairs and cleaning and directly supporting affected customers.
Although the overflow has ceased, repairs are ongoing and could extend into the weekend.
The burst occurred during planned work on the network.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this has caused, and we will contact you again when we have more information on the estimated completion of repair and clean up.
How you can stay safe
- Road users should avoid Aurelian Street, Palmyra between Justinian Street and Stock Road and follow traffic management.
- Please avoid contact with any pooled wastewater and pay attention to any warning signage.
- In the event of any contact, hands should be washed thoroughly with soap and clean water and any surfaces exposed to wastewater, including vehicles, should be disinfected.
- To minimise odours, please keep windows closed and consider the use of fans or air purifiers if needed. Avoid exercising outdoors if strong odours are present.
- If you feel unwell and experience symptoms such as headaches, fatigue and nausea, you are advised to seek medical advice.
