The Spring Irrigation Check is back!

With our changing climate, it’s more important than ever that we maintain our gardens efficiently and save water for when we need it most. To help households reduce their water use, we’re offering Perth and Peel residential customers a free Spring Irrigation Check.

It’s always a good idea to check in with a waterwise specialist about the efficiency of your irrigation system. This check will ensure your system is ready for summer and equip you with the knowledge you need to get the most out of your irrigation and garden without overwatering.

What does the Spring Irrigation Check include?

The check will be completed by an endorsed Waterwise Garden Irrigator who will:

  • Check for leaks and issues in your irrigation system
  • Check your irrigation controller settings & set optimal run times for your garden
  • Provide advice on how to efficiently use your irrigation system

The check does not include:

  • Extensive replacement of parts
  • Fixing complicated issues
  • Irrigation system redesigns or mapping
  • Irrigation controller replacement
  • Garden maintenance

The Waterwise Garden Irrigator may provide you with a quote for further work they can assist you with to help you save water.  It is at your discretion whether to proceed with any additional work. They will also complete an irrigation checklist with you to confirm the work that has been carried out and any recommendations made. A member of your household must be home for the duration of the check to discuss your irrigation and confirm that you are happy with the work completed.

We encourage you to review the frequently asked questions below for more information.

Frequently asked questions

This check will ensure your home irrigation system is working efficiently. The Waterwise Garden Irrigator will check your system is operating correctly and complete some key tasks that should be done annually. This includes:
  • Checking for leaks and issues in your irrigation system, including the master solenoid, manual isolation valve and backflow prevention device
  • Checking for coverage issues
  • Checking for broken sprinkler heads and the use of inefficient misting or micro sprayers
  • Checking your controller settings & setting optimal run times for your garden
  • Provide advice on how to efficiently use your irrigation system
The Waterwise Garden Irrigator has a set allowance per household. This means they cannot complete extra works which will take them over this amount. They may undertake a small number of repairs or replacements, but this is not always the case. It is at the discretion of the irrigator to make this decision depending on your individual irrigation situation. We kindly ask that you do not put the irrigators in an uncomfortable position by asking them to undertake work that is above and beyond what the check offers.

Like when your car has a service, there are things that are not included in the Spring Irrigation Check without additional payment required. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Extensive replacement of parts
  • Fixing complicated issues
  • Irrigation system redesigns or mapping
  • Irrigation controller replacement
  • Garden maintenance
  • Horticulture advice

If you wish to have extra work or recommendations completed, talk to your irrigator about when they could complete these tasks and have them provide a quote to you. This should be dealt with directly between you and the irrigator.

This offer is available to Water Corporation account customers who are owner occupiers in the Perth and Peel region as a one-time only offer. You must have an automatic irrigation controller that has been operational within the past two years. If you have already received a Water Corporation irrigation offer in the past, for example a Spring Sprinkler Check or Spring Sprinkler Service, you are not eligible for the 2023/2024 Spring Irrigation Check.

Once you submit your registration for the check, the details that you provided will be given to a local Waterwise Garden Irrigator. They will get in touch with you to organise a time block and date for your check. We will send you an email confirming that your registration has been received and we will advise who your irrigator will be.

If your irrigator attempts to contact you several times and cannot reach you (or a call is not returned), your Spring Irrigation Check will not go ahead. We recommend you take note of the irrigator’s number so you know to take this call.

Once your check is finished, you will receive a checklist confirming the service provided and any recommendations made. These recommendations are completely up to you to book and pay for. You are under no obligation to have these recommendations completed.

You do not need to pay the Waterwise Garden Irrigator for anything that is part of the Spring Irrigation Check.

You may receive an email later requesting feedback about the program and your check.

It is mandatory that a member of the household is home for the duration of the check. This is to ensure any waterwise advice is communicated, and any permissions sought before your irrigator undertakes any work.

Unfortunately, no. To be eligible for a Spring Irrigation Check, you need to have a functioning automatic irrigation controller at your property. Your Waterwise Garden Irrigator will not be able to undertake all the required checks if they cannot run your sprinklers. However, you are welcome to take up our Weather-based Irrigation Controller Rebate offer to get a rebate on a new controller and professional set up and then register for a Spring Irrigation Check. Please visit the offer page for details on this rebate.

The Spring Irrigation Check is available to owner-occupiers only. Therefore, you may only apply for a check for the home that you are currently living in.
