Repairs to the road surface have been completed and the affected left lane heading west on Vincent Street near the intersection with Charles Street was re-opened at 5pm today. All lanes on Charles Street remain open.

The cause of the broken water main is not yet known, and a section of the damaged pipe has been removed for further analysis.

There are 15,000 kilometres of water pipes in the Perth and Mandurah area. Leaks and breaks occur in every water supply scheme around Australia, and are influenced by a number of factors including the material and location of the mains, age, soil types and external factors such as nearby construction and tree roots.

Water Corporation again apologises for any inconvenience this may have caused to residents and commuters today.
